Emergency Outfit

Today I woke up late…eek! But never fear, I had an emergency outfit idea ready to go. Remember a few months ago when I posted about the dreaded “I have nothing to wear” syndrome? Well, I took my own advice and taped a list of ideas inside my closet door. Not only does this work great when you stare into the depths of your closet and can’t seem to find a single thing, but it’s also a lifesaver when you have exactly 2 seconds to throw on an outfit!

So, can you tell I got up late?

The “I have nothing to wear!” Conundrum

We’ve all been there: You’re staring into your closet and as the minutes pass, you break into a cold sweat. The only thing in front of you is a sea of hangers and suddenly the clock seems to be ticking louder and louder… you have somewhere to be and — eek!– you can’t find anything to wear!

Now that I know exactly how many pieces of clothing I really do own, this seems somewhat ridiculous. Yet,  this is precisely what happened to me yesterday morning. Eventually, I ended up throwing something together and rushing out of the door, but once I was fully clothed and on my way, I started to think of how many others deal with this same problem.

Luckily, I think I have a solution! On the train, I pulled out the notebook I keep in my purse and started to write down some tried and true outfit combinations for a variety of occasions. For example:

• Work- White Button Down Shirt, Black V-Neck Sweater, Red Pants, Black flats
• Casual- Long Black Cardigan, Gray V-Neck Tee, Black Leggings, Gray booties or Black flats
• Evening Out- Black Blazer, Black Tank, Gray Skinny Jeans, Black Boots

I wrote down three ideas for each and am going to tape it to the inside of my closet door.  This way, before I give up all hope, I can just turn to my handy list and be on my merry way!
